Over the past few weeks, reports have come in that heavily-funded US iPad accessories manufacturer Discovery Bay Games has gone belly up.
Sources claim that Discovery Bay officially closed its doors in May, and have noted that there's already a new company leasing their Seattle office space.
The official Discovery Bay Games website is also offline, and points directly to a Godaddy.com placeholder page.
Its Twitter and Facebook pages are also dead links.
No discovery
After raising $40 million in funding, including $15 million from Trilogy Equity Partners and Logitech, Discovery Bay Games became responsible for the first official third-party iOS gamepad, the rather ugly Duo Gamer, which supported Gameloft titles exclusively.
Without direct word from the company, it's difficult to know for sure what led to the unceremonious end of Discovery Bay Games.
Indeed, given expected boom in controller for Android and iOS devices, thanks in part to Apple's official support for third-party controllers in iOS 7, the company's decline seems somewhat ironic.
