Despite the news Nokia's Ovi Store is generating nearly one million downloads a day, its always been viewed as a stopgap measure.
At least, thats what Mobile Entertainment is reporting following a roundtable event with George Linardos, the company's veep of product, media.
The goal of the current store was to consolidate Nokia's previous content distribution initiatives such as Download, MOSH and WidSets.
All the while there's been this new platform being built in the background, which we'll be talking about in the next couple of months and launching in the spring, Linardos explained.
Key improvements will focus on speed, user interface and reliability.
Nokia seems happy with the traction its getting from the first generation Ovi site though. According to Linardos, download numbers are growing 100 percent month-on-month.
