We heard about EA Mobiles plans to adapt the Undercover game from its popular Need for Speed franchise to the iPhone back in August 08, and we were expecting to see it wheel-spinning onto the App Store by December.
SlideToPlay has heard from inside EA that the game is now being delayed until March, as the developer apparently wants to spend more time polishing the game.
We havent heard a final date from Apple yet, but EA plans to launch in early March. EA wants to make sure the game is as polished as possible before release, the statement goes.
From what we saw recently in preview screenshots, Need for Speed Undercover is looking pretty polished already, though its not bad thing that EAs shunning the iPhone trend for releasing unfinished games then attempting to complete their development through a constant stream of updates.
The console and PC versions have performed reasonably well, and the iPhones proven itself to be a most suitable platform for slick racing games, so this short delay is unlikely to harm Need for Speed Undercover too much particularly if the extra two months of development pay off in terms of stability and performance, as wed expect them to.
