Proving once again the mercurial power of Apple to meet the needs of a select few of its supplicant flock, IUGO's game Implode! has been racing up the US Top Grossing charts today.
At time of writing, it's jumped 54 places to #22, despite going live on 6th November, still being priced at its original $1.99, and not having appeared in the US paid chart up to this point.
Equally, while it reviewed well [personal disclosure: I gave it 6/10], it didn't set the critics alight with enthusiasm.
Instead, its boost has come from Featured status on the desktop and iPhone iTunes.
Apparently, its success in the US was matched by its performance on the Italian charts last week. Popularity in Italy was something also noted by US developer Riptide in terms of the performance of its game Gravity Shift.
Of course, it's also worth pointing out that Implode! is the sort of quirky game that's likely to catch the attention of the folk at Infinite Loop.
Or as IUGO's bizdev director Sarah Thomson puts it; "it's an awesome little game that everyone can enjoy!"
Boom, boom indeed.
