Global trade association the Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF) has today announced that its 7th Mobile Entertainment Awards - otherwise known as the 2010 Meffys - is now open for entries.
Spanning the entire mobile entertainment and media industry, the Meffys seek to "honour the most influential players from around the world", winners set to be announced at The Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden, London on June 21st.
Industry on the march
"Reflecting the latest advancements in the rapidly evolving $36 billion global mobile media industry, this year's Meffys will introduce six new categories recognising new m-commerce opportunities, the rise of the apps economy and impact of mobile connected devices," says MEF executive director Rimma Perelmuter.
This year's new Meffys categories include 'Content Discovery & Personalisation', 'Cross-Platform, App Store Blockbuster', 'M-Commerce and Mobile Connected Device'.
Perelmuter continues, "The Meffys is the most significant annual competition for innovators at the forefront of the digital economy to highlight their success and be celebrated as the industrys best."

Due to take place as part of the MEF's annual Mobile Entertainment Market conference, the association has also confirmed that its board will present the 'Outstanding Contribution Award' to a "talented individual whose work has had a critical impact on the growth of the mobile entertainment industry".
