Underlining the power of a large volume of high quality free games, US iOS publisher Backflip Studios has provided figures concerning some of its releases.
Its most popular game is Paper Toss, has been downloaded over 24 million times, since its June 2009 released.
Recent releases have also found big audiences.
Strike Knight has been downloaded four million times since May, while July's Graffiti Ball has already done over one million downloads. All these games are free with paid for or ad-free versions also available.
A sizeable concern
The result is that Backflip has quietly built itself up through organic growth to become one of the most popular social publishers on iPhone, with a combined audience of over one million unique daily users.
In comparison, Tapulous, which has had over 35 million downloads of its Tap Tap Revenge games, was purchased by Disney in June for an estimated $35 million.
Other notable points of reference include freemium publisher ngmoco, which has hosted three million kingdoms in its We Rule game, while Glu Mobile just announced it was hosting over 300,000 daily active users in its games.
Backflip has more free games due as well.
Its next title will be action jumper Ninjump, which will then be followed by three paid titles later in 2010: Dynamite Surfing, Dr. Shocker, and yet to be announced which is based on an cult film.
