We've already covered this item in the general roundup of July numbers from app store analysts Distimo, but the information is interesting enough to break it out into its own story; at least I think so.
Working out which game publishers release games in multiple stores, Distimo has come up with the following breakdown.
Spreading the love
Gameloft is the most prolific publisher with 352 titles available, of which 40 percent are available in BlackBerry App World - not what you'd expect to be the hotbed of mobile gaming.
Indeed, more generally, the five publishers listed here boast a surprising number of BlackBerry apps (technically just Java games in the vast majority of cases, of course).
BlackBerry games are priced high too; on average $5.61. This ranks second, only to Windows games, which on average are $6.79.
Other interesting things to point out is that Gameloft is the keenest iPad publisher, while Handmark is the best balanced in terms of equal percentage of games across six platforms.
It's also surprising to see the strength of Ovi Store releases, again presumably legacy Java games.
A caveat
Still, it's important to realise that these graphs are based on number of releases, not revenue breakdown. That information would be fascinating, and perhaps not as Apple focused as people think.
For example, in its Q4 2009 financials, it was revealed that 22 percent of Gameloft's revenue came from iPhone, leaving 78 percent from more traditional sources.
