GetJar, which trumpets itself as the world's most popular independent app store, has hired former EA Mobile executive Berenice Kalan as its new director of marketing in the UK
Kalan, whose appointment follows that of Microsoft's James Mooney earlier in October, will be charged with building relationships with developers, helping the free marketplace reach out to more studios as it looks to cement its place in the market.
Moving the marketplace on
Back in July, GetJar was enjoying a daily download rate of 3 million, putting it comfortably ahead of the 1.7 million downloads a day the Ovi Store was amassing.
Nonetheless Kalan will also be charged with tackling marketing campaigns for the app store to pick up yet more UK based consumers accordingly.
GetJar's new marketing head has previously held down similar roles at both Glu and I-play.
