After formally announcing the Optimus 2X the worlds first mobile with a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 processor - at CES 2011, LG has been showing off once more with a glasses-free 3D display for smartphones and tablets.
In a similar vein to Sharps Galapagos 3D handset, LGs 4.3-inch model takes advantage of autostereoscopic technology on the WVGA 480 x 800 pixel touchscreen to produce the extra dimension effect.
No barrier to success
Without getting too technical, LGs 3D display uses an applied parallax barrier tech, which delivers a series of light-blocking slits attached to the front of the LCD panel.
These slits, or barriers, ensure that the left and right eyes see different images, and thus the illusion of depth is complete.
3D growth
LG sees tremendous growth potential in the 3D mobile display market, said Dr. Jong-seok Park, CEO of LG Mobile.
With our key understanding of displays, entertainment and mobile technology, LG is looking forward to debuting this exciting new way to watch 3D movies or play games on your mobile phone.
Not stopping there, LG has been flexing its 3D muscles in other ways at the Consumer Electronics Show, demonstrating 3D mobile digital TV, a pair of impressive looking 3D FPR goggles, and an innovative 3D laptop to boot.
Cue the revolution.
