Launched back in December, social gaming specialist PapayaMobile has announced the winners of its first Game Development Contest at GDC 2011.
The venture was designed to encourage studios to make use of the firm's Game Engine on Android, which allows developers to write script for Google's OS in C rather than in any Java-based alternatives a move it claims significantly speeds up development time.
Time is money
"As the leading social gaming platform on Android, PapayaMobile is dedicated to bringing sophisticated Game Engine technology to our developers so they can build powerful, engaging games in record time," said co-founder and CEO Si Shen.
"We look forward to integrating these games into the Papaya social community and seeing our developers' businesses grow."
In all, 300 developers entered the competition, with Farm Defender snatching the top prize and its creator taking home a share of $23,000 for its troubles.
Winners all round
Second place went to Janken, while Treasure took third spot.
All three winners have been awarded a paid internship at PapayaMobile's Beijing headquarters, promotion of their winning apps through Papaya's marketing channels and a free trip to GDC 2011.
PapayaMobile also claims the three games will be released on Android Market, as well as other as-of-yet unannounced marketplaces, in the near future.
