Given HTC managed to double its sales in May, it's little wonder the company is being bold enough to predict that shipments in 2011 will head similarly skywards.
In all, HTC believes shipments throughout the course of the year will hit 50 million exactly double the record 25 million units the Taiwanese manufacturer clocked up in 2010.
Double exposure
The bold prediction, which matches the line taken with the firm's official 2011 forecast, was made by HTC North Asia president Jack Tong, who told Dow Jones Newswires that the company 'remains comfortable' with the 50 million figure based on its performance to date.
CEO Peter Chou also reportedly told investors at the firm's annual shareholder meeting that HTC expects to perform strongly throughout the second half of 2010, with the company's decision to back both Android and Windows Phone paying off.
HTC's latest venture the Windows Phone Mango powered Mazaa recently received an unofficial unveiling online. The new handset is expected to sport a 12MP camera.
