If you tout your product as a multiplatform development framework, then adding support for new formats as and when they come is part and parcel of the process.
As such, Marmalade's move to update its SDK to version 5.2, bringing Ice Cream Sandwich, Amazon's Kindle Fire and the recently rejuvenated bada 2.0 on board is logical enough.
However, the latest version of the framework also offers updated support for one of Marmalade's linchpins: iOS.
Two for one
Said update is specifically in relation to developers targeting Apple's platform simultaneously with Android.
New UI support included in Marmalade 5.2 allows developers to build apps with a "native look and feel" from a single code base for both operating systems, saving studios - in shopping channel tradition - both time and money.
"By creating native user experiences across multiple platforms from the same code base Marmalade is dramatically decreasing cost and time to market for many app developers," said EVP of product Tamir Strauss.
"By simplifying cross-platform development, we're opening up the opportunities it presents to the widest audience possible."
Marmalade 5.2 is available for download now, with license packages starting from $149.
