Neal Schmidt, maker of iPhone multiplayer photo scavenger hunt game, Buckshot, has placed his app on eBay, with a starting price of $1.
The successful bidder will receive complete ownership of the paid app, as well as the iAds-powered free version, which currently earns around $300 a month with around 20,000 registered users.
As of the morning of 5 January the app had received 88 bids and had reached a price of $15,100, with four hours left until bidding closes.
Bucking the trend
The developer claims that the app is the 'easiest thing in the world to maintain' with the the Amazon cloud server used to run the game costing just over $2 a day.
Seller Schmidt contacted TechCrunch to outline the reasons for the sale, highlighting that he was tired of the $99 a year fee to use iTunesConnect, along with the 30 percent cut Apple have been taking from his earnings.
He also highlighted that he was tired of waiting for up to a week for the Apple review board to allow his updates.
Schmidt aims to focus on HTML5 development in the future.
