Nintendo has announced it has launched Nintendo Zone, a free location-based service that allows users to access content from 25,000 hotspots across Europe.
Users checking in on the service will be able to access exclusive content, as well as upcoming game trailers, product information, screenshots, and demos all available in 2D or 3D.
On the spot
The service made a guest appearance at UK-based culture event Hyper Japan back in February.
Since launching in America has hosted on-demand episodes of the Pokemon TV series and sports highlights.
The European launch follows today's system update which adds folder functionality to the 3DS as well as patches to be made available via the eShop starting May 2012.
3DS owners will be alerted that they have entered a hotspot via a notification.
To find a hotspot location near you visit Nintendo UK's hotspot tool finder.
