Smartphone and tablet-focused studio Rolocule Games may have already amassed 1.5 million downloads across 100 different countries, but the firm is looking for more.
The developer, based in the Indian city of Pune, has just closed its angel funding round, led by Mumbai Angels, but also featuring contributions from Blume Ventures and other investors.
Rolocule of honour
The money, it's claimed, will help Rolocule reach new audiences with its library of titles, all built around its proprietary Rolocule game engine.
Its best known title to-date is Flick Tennis: College Wars, which won an IMGA in 2012 for the best sports game.
"We are excited to have Mumbai Angels, for not just their financial support but also for the strategic guidance and enthusiasm, which I am sure will help us take Rolocule to a whole new level," said co-founder and CEO Rohit Gupta.
"Continuing with our focus to create realistic and simple to play games, we are also heavily focusing on making games purely social and accessible."
An eye on Android
As a result of the investment, Mumbai Angels' Ajeet Khurana will join the developer's board, coming with the express aim of making Rolocule "one of the leading gaming companies in the world."
Part of that growth, it appears, will come from launching game on fresh platforms.
"Even with a small team and limited budgets, we have a created a mark globally on iOS gaming," added co-founder and COO Anuj Tandon.
"We wish to take this momentum forward and add more talented folks to our team as we also plan to launch our games on Android."
