Nokia launches Feedback Forum for N-Gage

But will it deliver on user demands?

Nokia launches Feedback Forum for N-Gage
Nokia has been making big noises about becoming a services company rather than a handset maker in the last year. It's clear that partly involves an injection of Web 2.0-style innovation into the company's activities.

N-Gage has actually been at the forefront of that strategic shift, starting with its release as a beta client – something that would have been unthinkable for Nokia just two or three years ago.

Now Nokia is going further, setting up an N-Gage Feedback Forum for its users to make suggestions for the platform, and then vote on the best ones, which will float to the top of the list.

It's seemingly modelled on the IdeaStorm site launched by Dell last year, which saw thousands of the company's customers debating Linux, power cables and more eco-friendly packaging.

It's a brave and praiseworthy move, but the risky thing about this kind of venture is it ramps up the pressure on Nokia to deliver the most popular suggestions, or at least explain why it can't.

For example, the current most-popular suggestion is for the company to make an official statement about when the long-delayed N73 and N93 versions of the N-Gage client will be released.

However, the site should throw up some more easily implemented suggestions, too. At least, that's what Nokia will be hoping.
