Intel's continued strength in the Windows business means it's been somewhat behind the curve when it comes to powering tablets.
However, the unveiling of its Oak Trail Atom chips in April its answer to the dominant ARM-based variants that currently dominate the market was bolstered by the claim that it would feature in 35 devices before the end of 2011.
According to Intel, more than 10 of those will be unveiled at the Computex trade show in Taiwan on May 31.
MeeGo momentum?
Details as to just what devices will be revealed remains sketchy, though the Wall Street Journal suggests Asus is one of the manufacturers on board.
It's also believed the devices will consist of both Android tablets (most of which have previously opted to adopt Nvidia's ARM-based Tegra 2 chips) and those running MeeGo the OS Intel founded with Nokia.
The Finnish firm's decision to move away from MeeGo following its strategic partnership with Microsoft has left Intel as MeeGo's only champion.
It's a responsibility that resulted in the firm teaming up with Chinese internet portal service Tencent in a bid to encourage app development for MeeGo tablets, though the operating system's standing as a viable alternative for OEMs to Android remains shaky.
