Details on this years Game Developers Conference (GDC) have begun to filter out over at the official website, with the announcement that ex-Electronic Arts vice president and founder of the iPhone-dedicated studio ngmoco, Neil Young, will deliver the mobile keynote speech.
The summary of his Why the iPhone just changed everything speech highlights his judgment that Apples handset ranks among gaming historys most important consoles, such as the Atari VCS, NES, Game Boy and PlayStation.
With far reaching impacts on publishing, distribution and development the iPhone has merged the best of mobile with traditional games and then added new media economics for good measure, Young will suggest, and also share his ideas for the future of the platform and the opportunities for other developers to follow his lead and give up their day jobs.
Considering the quality and positive reception of ngmocos games, such as Topple and Rolando (our sister site Pocket Gamers only Platinum Award winning iPhone game to date), Youngs speech will definitely be a highpoint of the celebrated conference.
