Velti launches one-stop shop for in-app advertising and analytics
Monestising in-app advertising is a key requirement for any developer looking to adopt a freemium model.

Velti's new developer program is designed to do just that, with the mobile marketer claiming it's already managed to gain the support of key media brands, including MTV, Shazam and Sky.

The company is now looking to get more games developers on board, with the developer program – which runs through Velti's mGage platform – coming with SDKs for iPhone, iPad, Android, Symbian, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile.

Super SDK

Velti claims the SDKs are feature-rich, enabling a variety of ads to be delivered in a format that suits the app in question.

They can also be implemented to carry out a number of actions, such as emailing or calling the company in question, or going straight to a landing or purchase page, when clicked on.

As you might expect, the iPhone SDK follows iAd's lead, by allowing all such actions to be carried out without leaving the app itself.

But the program doesn't stop there. Velti reckons it offers a one-stop shop, allowing studios to both develop and distribute apps from the portal itself.

For your convenience

As such, the company believes the package sits somewhere between the analytics offered by the like of Flurry, and the marketplaces served up by carriers.

It's a set-up Velti believes is perfect for developers of free apps, with the company reporting Azuki Systems recently developed a swimsuit app for Sports Illustrated using the iPhone SDK that hit 570,000 downloads in its first three weeks, and boasted a ten percent conversion to paid users.

Developers looking to make use of the SDK need to sign up at Velti's mGage portal.
