Proclaiming Google's OS as the developer's new platform of choice, development tool specialist Unity has released its latest venture into the wild: Unity Android.
The platform, which was first unveiled at last year's GDC, is designed to enable hassle free iOS to Android ports, thanks to Unity's single authoring environment.
Pre-release progress
"It's awesome to be doing the full launch of our Android support," said CCO Nicholas Francis.
"Now we're doing the full launch of our product and I can't wait to see what kind of amazing things people will develop. I think getting Unity out to the Android developer base will vastly improve the range of quality games on the platform."
Now available in both trial and pro forms - the latter coming in at $400 for existing Unity free studios, or $1,500 for Unity Pro members - Unity previously rolled out a pro-only pre-release version of Unity Android in 2010, which it claims has already been a "huge success".
In its limited time on the market, more than 50 games on Android have utilised the platform including Battle Bears, Castle Warriors, Doodle Bowling, Drift Mania Championship and Samurai II: Vengeance.
Full details on the various Unity licenses available can be found on the firm's website.
