Given the idea behind gamification is to bring gaming principles to non-game releases, the idea of FreeAppADay (FAAD) employing such techniques in its app could be perceived as a homecoming.
The new app, which will join FAAD's existing 5 million strong iOS app, is being developed in partnership with social entertainment specialist FunMobility.
The idea is to better support the platform's community by building it around FunMobility's newly launched own platform, FunChat.
Reset for revenue
"FreeAppADay has built a sizable audience, driven a lot of downloads and put significant dollars in the pockets of developers through their promotion of apps," said FunMobility CEO Adam Lavine.
"The FunChat-powered version of FreeAppADay will give FAAD additional ways to increase audience size and stickiness using both fun and revenue-generating features."
FunChat was unveiled by the firm back in June with a specific focus on intertwining social features into the heart of games supported on the platform. It also incorporated FunMobility's chat service, Chatitude.
Communication the keyThe idea is simple: the longer players are engaged through the app's social features, the more games they'll likely seek out and revenue they'll bring in.
Specific features will include enhanced chat, community rewards, a pranking engine, as well as earning virtual currency through the FunChat Mobile Engagement Platform's reward and achievement system.
"FreeAppADay was conceived and built around the concept of community and using crowd sourced and community feedback as a method to extend and promote applications," added FAAD CEO and co-founder Joe Bayen.
"Partnering with FunMobility to create our own FunChat-powered community app will only serve to strengthen our community, and encourage our users to communicate more amongst each other."
