UK mobile tech company Marmalade has recently been adding support for a myriad of different services - including advertising networks - but that doesn't mean it's ignoring key operating systems.
So, as promised earlier in 2011, it's now added support for BlackBerry's PlayBook.
Its eponymous cross-platform tool originally known as Airplay SDK claims to be the first SDK to offer native support for QNX apps, with the company looking to take advantage of the platform's expansion to BlackBerry handsets in the coming years.
Moving on with Marmalade
For now, however, Marmalade will focus on PlayBook, with the company claiming it's "already seen early interest from its developer community".
Indeed, devs using Marmalade are already working on converting their titles for QNX, the firm reports.
"As Marmalade is a truly cross-platform solution, developers are able to address PlayBook, as well as iOS and Android devices, with a single codebase, with no need to recompile their application code," the company told us in a statement.
"Marmalade is keen to allow its developers to take advantage of this market opportunity."
The news comes as BlackBerry's developer relations head, Mike Kirkup, steps down after 10 years at RIM.
