Little over a week after alternative ad network Kiip announced its partnership with Guinness World Records, the winner of the two firm's Mega Jump competition has been unveiled.
21 year old Swiss gamer Philipp Schneckenburger took home the prize, posting a score of 6,133,889 on Get Set Games' title and earning a place in the Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition 2012 - despite labelling himself a 'novice'.
Good things come to those who...don't play
"First I played just for fun," Schneckenburger said of his winning score, having been introduced to the game by his cousin while on holiday in the US.
"It turned into playing for four hours straight to make sure I could qualify for a chance to break the record. It's funny because I normally dont play video or mobile games. Now all my colleagues call me a world record holder."
Schneckenburger was just one of 200,000 entrants from around the globe, but will now have his name printed in Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition 2012.
Playful partnership
It doesn't stop there, however.
The deal between Kiip and Guinness World Records designed to build on the former's premise to links in-game achievements with real-world offers has been dubbed an 'ongoing network integration', with future leaderboard toppers on Kiip-enabled games likely to earn their own place in the record books.
"This competition was a perfect way to show the world really what this partnership represented in a fun, five day long event," said Kiip CEO and founder Brian Wong.
"We saw hundreds of thousands of scores posted from around the world. We've truly upped the ante on what players around the world can now strive for; but it's closer in reach than ever before in history.
"This truly changes how we perceive the significance of mobile gaming today."
Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition 2012 will be published in January.
