Kicking off the second day of the Mobile Games Forum 2012, Laurence Aderemi, who's Google's mobile partnerships manager spoke on the subject of Capitalising on the Mobile Channel.
"The path for game developers has been iOS. It was first, it's a great platform. I can't praise it enough, but we're seeing significant traction on Android," Aderemi said.
He pointed out that Android continues to grow at what the company describes as "a frightening rate" with Android running on over 800 devices including phones, tablets and TVs, with over 700,000 activations daily.
Where's the money?
In terms of fulfilling developers' needs, however, what was most interesting was monetisation.
"Payments are getting easier. We're continuing to roll out direct carrier billing worldwide," Aderemi argued. 19 carriers have been announced to-date.
"There are multiple ways of monetising and Google Wallet is also helping to fuel purchasing."
Currently, users in 131 countries can buy apps via Google Market.
Aderemi also pointed to how Google was making distribution easier.
"I think the redesign has helped to make these much better on Android Market, especially in terms of on-device discovery," he said.
