Following its beta launch earlier in March, Ludei has added to its HTML5-to-smartphone CocoonJS development tool with the unveiling of an additional Launcher for Android.
The CocoonJS Launcher allows developers to check their HTML5 games running on Google's platform within what the firm claims is "just a few minutes".
Ludei states that, while rival tools also boast launchers of their own Spaceport and Appmobi to name a couple many require developers to make additional downloads, or force them to pay for the privilege.
Cutting out the curve
"The competitors' 'launcher' apps have to be complimented by a desktop application - usually an Integrated Development Environment (IDE), which you usually have to pay for," Ludei said in a statement.
"To use these desktop apps you have to install plugins. On top of that you have to learn how to use this new platform and their SDK an immense learning curve."
In contrast, Ludei claims the CocoonJS Launcher operates more like a zip folder, hosting the game on a server with no additional downloads or code changes required.
More details on the Launcher, which is free to download for Android, can be found on Ludei's website, along with a PDF brochure explaining how HTML5 developers looking to make the move to mobile can best to implement CocoonJS.
An iOS version of the Launcher is also currently being reviewed by Apple.
