On hand to assist iOS Fighting Fantasy projects

Bleszinski, Molyneux and other industry mainstays to help student dev teams at Make Something Unreal Live
Epic Games and Train2Game have announced a list of industry figures who will be on hand to assist and critique entrants in their Make Something Unreal Live contest.

The event, which will take place at the Gadget Show Live exhibition on 10-15 April, will see teams of student developers crafting iOS games based on the Fighting Fantasy series of books.

It's appropriate, then, that Fighting Fantasy authors Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone will name the winning team, which will receive a full source, commercial Unreal Engine 3 license for iOS.

The panel

"Ian and I are impressed with what we’ve seen of the students' work so far, and we are looking forward to seeing the final results," said Jackson of the teams, which will produce games based on The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, The Citadel of Chaos, Deathtrap Dungeon, and Armies of Death books.

Although development on these projects has already begun, the Gadget Show Live event will see the teams applying finishing touches to their projects, and incorporating feedback from the panel of industry figures and the advisory board of Train2Game directors.

That panel of industry figures includes:

Ian Baverstock – founding partner of Tenshi Ventures

Cliff Bleszinski – design director at Epic Games

Jon Hare – founder of Tower Studios

Steve Jackson – co-creator of Fighting Fantasy series

Ian Livingstone – co-creator of Fighting Fantasy series

Prof. Carsten Maple – director of business education interaction at TIGA

Peter Molyneux – founder of 22 Cans

Dr Jo Twist – CEO of UKIE

Jon Yates – director of product development at City & Guilds

Make Something Unreal Live will be part of the Gadget Show Live event, which runs from 10-15 April 2012 at the NEC in Birmingham, UK.
