Sony continues to ring in the changes at its newly wholly-owned mobile division, now called Sony Mobile Communications.
Bert Nordberg, who was CEO and president in its Sony Ericsson days, is to be replaced by Kunimasa 'Kuni' Suzuki on 16 May.
Suzuki, will have the job of overseeing the planning and designing of all Sony's mobile consumer products and services - from smartphones, and tablets to PCs - with the aim of strengthening horizontal integration.
He'll be based in Lund, Sweden and Tokyo, Japan.
Nordberg will become chairman of the board.
Pieces in place
"Kuni has a vast experience in product planning and management in the information technology and mobile product business, as well as experience of cultivating business in emerging markets," said Kazuo Hirai, Sony's CEO and president.
"He is a strong leader and the right person to oversee Sony Mobile Communications as we establish a new business structure as 'One Sony' intended to reinforce and accelerate our overall business management."
Sony has identified mobile as one of the core pillars of its electronics business alongside digital imaging and gaming.
