Mobile games make strong showing in 2012 Meffys Awards nominations
A dedicated mobile games category may be missing from this year's Meffys Awards, but that hasn't stopped outfits associated with the smartphone scene making the shortlist.

When it comes to the best brand on mobile, for instance, ad agency Crispin Porter & Bogusky has been nominated for its work on iOS and Android release Just Dance 3 Autodance.

Indeed, firms involved with mobile games continue to dominate in some categories.

Up against Crispin Porter & Bogusky is Millennial Media for its Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 app – designed to promote Activison's console and PC blockbuster ahead of release.

Millennial's release is also up for the discovery & engagement award.

There's a particularly strong showing for games-focused firms in the innovation award for monetisation, which sees GamesAnalytics, GetJar and Zed all competing for said prize.

Meanwhile, PlayPhone's Social Gaming Network is up for an innovation award for technology, Nazara's Games Club platform is nominated for a content service award and Electronic Arts' The Sims Freeplay is competing for a social & entertainment App Award.

Whether all these nominations will actually result in any awards for the industry will remain a mystery until 12 September, when the winners will be announced at a gala dinner at the Park Lane Hotel in Mayfair, London.
