Following the success of The Simpsons: Tapped Out, EA Mobile is on an all-out free-to-play push.
As it revealed this week, the much anticipated Real Racing 3 has been designed with damage as a major monetisation leverage.
If your car is damaged, its performance will be degraded and you'll have to spend time and money repairing it.
And now comes news that EA will release its first ever free-to-play version of Tetris.
Faster, faster pussycat
Called Tetris Blitz, this follows the mechanics of the successful free-to-play Bejeweled Blitz, offering a simple time-based challenge mode.
"Tetris Blitz wraps all of the best elements of the iconic Tetris game inside a bite-sized, frenzied experience that is perfect for smartphones and tablets," said Nick Earl, SVP and GM for EA's All Play label.
"The crisp graphics, innovative new controls and social leaderboards are bound to make Tetris Blitz a captivating gaming experience for longtime Tetris fans and newcomers alike."
Compulsion loops
Player will have two-minutes to clear as many lines as possible, with their goal to trigger the Frenzy mode for big score multipliers. Explosive power ups will also available, with a new power up released weekly.
And, of course, the game uses Facebook Connect so you can compete with your friends in weekly leaderboard feuds.
Tetris Blitz will be released for iOS, Android and Amazon devices this spring.
