Gamelab Barcelona shapes up: Supercell, Rovio, and Gamevil all on board
With Gamelab Barcelona 2013 set to kick off in just a few days, the conference is shaping up to be a "who's who" of mobile gaming.

And that's not just because the MD of Pocket Gamer publisher Steel Media Chris James will be attending, either.

According to organisers, Supercell's Michail Katkoff will launch the mobile content section on June 26 with a talk that aims to explain Supercell's "secret sauce" recipe behind the success of Clash of Clans.

Following Katkoff, Rovio's Jussi Immonen will shed some more light on his company's third-party publishing initiative, Rovio Stars.

Michel Ancel, creator of the popular Rayman franchise, will also speak at the conference, along with King's Tommy Palm, and Canadian indie designer Vaner Caballero of Papo & Yo acclaim.Nine years strong

Other notable speakers from Gamelab Barcelona 2013 include former Ubisoft-er Patrice Desilets (Assassin's Creed), who'll speak on creating AAA titles and where he sees the big AAA game business going in the future.

As a counterpoint, Remedy's Matias Myllyrinne (Alan Wake) will speak on how an indie studio needs to change to face the current changes in the business ecosystem.

It's unlikely that Myllyrinne will divulge any details on Remedy's unannounced iOS project, however.

Finally, American game designer Will Wright will be honoured by the Spanish Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences for his creation of The Sims franchise. Currently at the helm of Stupid Fun Club, Wright is also responsible for the creation of Spore.

If you'd like to book up a meeting with Steel Media MD Chris James to talk business - or, if you're feeling especially British, the weather - drop him an email at chris[at]pocketgamer.co.uk.

The 9th Gamelab Barcelona will be held at the Filmoteca de Catalonia in Barcelona from June 26 to June 28. Those interested in learning more can visit the official website for the conference.
