Games released on Windows 8 platform are enjoying increasingly strong sales, with download rates rising month after month.
That's according to US developer Arkadium, which claims its own titles are benefiting from the wider array of new titles hitting the Windows Store. In short, momentum is picking up.
Growth and investment
"We're increasingly seeing more people investing time with games on the Windows 8 platform," said CEO and co-founder Kenny Rosenblatt.
"In our games alone, there was an increase of over 35 percent from January to April for active users and daily sessions, so its clear that we're seeing traction."
There are currently 100,000 apps available on the Windows Store and, interesting, Arkadium claims App Annie data suggests Windows 8 games "tend to be more stable in the top ranks when compared to the iPad, which is more volatile."
Within a 90 day period, games in Windows 8's top five tend to spend twice as long in the top slots (around 19 days) as they do on iPad (around 7 days.)
Eye on analytics
However, while downloads are on the up, Arkadium claims many developers aren't best placed to take advantage on the rush of new consumers, with analytics apparently in short supply on Windows 8.
As a result, the company is building its own proprietary analytics engine.
"The major barriers we have now are the lack of user acquisition options and a robust analytics system that will allow us to promote and evolve our games further," explained Rosenblatt.
"As a first-mover on Windows 8, we're already spearheading a system that will provide new insights to ensure better quality and actionable learnings for our games and for the market."

What do you call someone who has an unhealthy obsession with video games and Sean Bean? That'd be a 'Chris Kerr'. Chris is one of those deluded souls who actually believes that one day Sean Bean will survive a movie. Poor guy.
