Facebook Instant Games has bagged another huge IP with Angry Birds arriving on the platform.
Franchise creator Rovio partnered with chat app games development specialist CoolGames on the title.
The game features the classic Angry Birds slingshot gameplay with added asynchronous multiplayer functionality built in. The title has a number of game modes and levels, and is expected to receive a flurry of new social features over the next few months.
Devs flock to chat apps
Angry Birds can be played on both Facebook Messenger and in the News Feed on the social network’s website, without the need for a download.
“It has been a unique experience for us to work on this famous title together with Rovio” said CoolGames CEO Laurens Rutten.
“Birds Classic on the biggest new games platform since the launch of the app-stores, while
pushing the HTML5 technology to provide a game experience one would expect from native
apps.”
News of Angry Birds’ arrival on Facebook Instant Games comes shortly after Line Corporation launched its $1 billion-plus mobile hit Disney Tsum Tsum on the platform.
