Mobile firm BLStream has announced the completion of its merger with casual games studio Gamelion, with the newly-swelled BLStream now employing 300 staff in its Finnish, Polish and Ukrainian offices.
Gamelion has worked on several projects for big mobile publishers in recent months, including the Symbian and N-Gage versions of FIFA 08 for EA Mobile, Jewel Quest 2 3D for I-play (pictured), and Brain Coach with Dr Kawashima for Namco Bandai.
The developer also worked on the Facebook version of Cafe Solitaire for Digital Chocolate.
Gamelion Studios will continue to operate as a business unit within BLStream, alongside two other divisions - BLStream Enterprise Solutions and BLStream Mobile Solutions - with Gamelion founder Anton Gauffin remaining in charge of the studio.
According to Gauffin, Gamelion more than doubled its revenues in 2007, and sees strong growth ahead now it's part of BLStream. Interestingly though, the latter sees potential for Gamelion's expertise to enhance its enterprise business in particular.
"Some of our enterprise sector customers recently wanted to achieve game-like user experiences to facilitate easier adaptation of mobile solutions within their organisations," says BLStream CEO Samuli Koski-Lammi. "We were happy to provide Gamelion's deep User Experience and GUI design expertise for these customers."
Perhaps other mobile game developers looking to diversify should be pitching their skills to blue-chip corporates...
