Whether or not Microsoft learned any lessons from the last major update to Windows Phone won't become clear for a few weeks yet, but the firm has fired the starting gun on the platform's latest revision, dubbed Mango.
The new version of the OS is currently being pushed out to devices across the globe, though as before, it's impossible to pinpoint just when it will be made available to specific phones.
Nonetheless, Microsoft has published a global guide for customers outside of the US, letting them know the status of the update carrier by carrier.
Moving out Mango
In the UK, for instance, all five major operators O2, 3-UK, T-Mobile, Orange, Vodafone and T-Mobile are currently listed as 'delivering the update', though there is an unspecified hold up for Samsung Omnia 7 handsets on T-Mobile.
In all, however, the only carrier in any operator not currently pushing Mango out to its customers is Telefonica in Spain, which is currently "testing" the update.
"The UK and rest of the world will now see the update rolling out to all Windows Phone 7 owners, beginning today, with the aim of all users receiving the update by the end of October," reports Microsoft on the official Windows Phone UK blog.
"The latest release of Windows Phone brings your contacts, messages and pictures together in one place, making it easy to share life with the people you care about most, keeping you in touch and always up to date."
Windows refresh
Mango features full integration with Twitter in much the same way as the platform currently offers with Facebook, as well as grouped contacts and HTML5 support.
Its debut comes as Microsoft refreshes all aspects of the platform - from its logo and slogan through to the launch of a new web-based presence for Windows Phone Marketplace.
