Another month, another thirty odd days of Android domination in the US, according to the latest numbers taken from Millennial Media's Mobile Mix report.
Based on data sourced from the firm's ad network - which reaches 8 out of 10 mobile users in the US - Google's platform held onto its 53 percent share of the smartphone market in May, with closest rival iOS falling back by one point to 27 percent.
Stopping at the top
Indeed, aside from BlackBerry, which climbed one point to 17 percent during the course of the month, all other platforms appear to be bit part players, with Symbian and Windows Phone fighting for scraps at the bottom of the table.
But further examination of Millennial's figures reveals it isn't quite all doom and gloom for Android's rivals.
Of particular note is Windows Phone's rise in ad impressions, up 92 percent month over month. Apple's iPad is also enjoying a similar rise, with impressions up 29 percent across the same period.
Apps away
Android also continues to play second fiddle to iOS when it comes to revenue driven by apps across Millennial's network an area where Apple's platform holds most of the cards, with a 45 percent share.
However, it's a race that's slowly tightening, with Android just behind on 43 percent.
"We expect Android to start to steal share from Apple as developers start to create more applications for the Android platform to take advantage of the high volume of customers who have shifted to Android devices," summarises Millennial in the report.
Nonetheless, Apple remains the largest OEM on the firm's network, with more than 30 percent of devices across the US based on Millennial impressions.
Apple's iPhone is also the most popular single device, with 16.5 percent of the market.
