From humble beginnings in a developer's living room in 1988, the Game Developers Conference has grown to the largest professionals only gathering of videogame industry professionals.
True to its original vision, GDC continues to be the nexus point of learning, networking and inspiration for developers looking to imagine and deliver the next breakthrough.
GDC 2011 marks the 25th edition of this mission and serves as a testament of how far the industry has come and as a celebration of its bright future.
The first annual GDC Smartphone Summit at GDC 2011 - February 28 - March 1 - brings together top game developers from around the world to share ideas, introduce best practices and discuss the future of gaming on established and emerging smartphone and related platforms, including the iPhone and iPad, Android OS phones and tablets, Blackberry and a cornucopia of similar handheld devices.
This two day program will highlight the nuts and bolts of great game design and reveal successful business strategies behind this new breed of popular smartphones, exploring emerging business models, what it takes to break through App Store clutter on any given platform, community and marketing tips to succeed in the market, and design tips and tricks for handheld-length play sessions and touchscreens.
