Apple reportedly courting Samsung over AMOLED equipped iPad 3Reports from Asia pointed towards an apparent meeting between Apple COO Tim Cook and unnamed Samsung executives. The reason? Apple is looking to sign up Samsung's AMOLED display technology for iPad 3.
"Apple wants to tap into Samsung's AMOLED technology for an upgraded version of the iPad 2, considered as many as the iPad 3 that is likely to be launched toward the end of this year," said an unnamed source.

5 games on Android Market have clocked up more than 250,000 downloadsIts library is nearing 300,000 apps, but Distimo claimed downloads on Android Market remain painfully slow. Only 96 releases have notched up 5 million or more downloads, the firm reported, with two paid apps having hits 2 million downloads.
"There are five games in Google Android Market with over 250,000 downloads worldwide," Distimo stated. "In the App App Store for iPhone, 10 games generated more than 250,000 downloads in the United States alone in two months."

Chillingo works hard, but too many publishers have become monsters says Spilt Milk's Andrew John SmithChillingo shouldn't take the name of developer cooperative Who Needs Chillingo? personally, Spilt Milk Studio MD and coop backer Andrew John Smith said in an interview.
"Chillingo has managed to get where it is today through talent, skill, and hard work," he said, adding that other publishers have turned into "monsters".
"It's really more about trying to make do without them than it is belittling their businesses and contributions," he said of the cooperative's aims.

It's now rejected the method, but Glu made $2.9 million from incentivised downloads this quarterIncentivised downloads might have fallen out of favour with Apple, but Glu Mobile's analysts day presentation revealed the model generated $2.9 million in CPI (as it's labelled) revenue in the two months of its current quarter, and $2.2 million in Q1 2011.
"50-75 percent of CPI dollars can be replaced with other advertising mechanics in the short term," said Glu CEO Niccolo de Masi. "Over the medium term, we expect to do more through these methods as we accelerate updates to our social feature."
