Mobile gamers are in it to win it

Twistbox play-for-prizes platform passes 75m game sessions
Twistbox Entertainment has announced that its mobile play-for-prizes platform has now hosted more than 75 million game sessions.

The firm says that it'll be capitalising on this success in 2009, launching new play-for-cash services with several European operators, with the first going live in January.

The platform lets people play to win prizes in daily or weekly head-to-head matchups and tournaments, as well as through raffles and loyalty schemes.

It was acquired when Twistbox bought InfoSpace's mobile games division in January last year. The division, formerly known as Atlas Mobile, launched the platform in December 2003 in the US.

Twistbox has other plans, too, announcing that it's porting for-prizes games to iPhone and Android, among other platforms.

The company is also looking to sign sponsorship deals, and also has its sights set beyond mobile, judging by CEO Ian Aaron's comments:

"We are in development to leverage our platform, technology and pending patents to deliver a consistent play-for-prizes experience across all three screens," he says.
