Social gaming specialist Zynga is continuing to in its own words extend its footprint worldwide, with the studio confirming it's acquired the Boston-based Conduit Labs for an undisclosed fee.
Conduit, which was founded in 2007, specialises in free-to-play social games with a music bent, the developer pitching itself as a genre leader thanks to its relationships with over 100,000 artists.
Despite such apparent notoriety, however, Zynga has decided to rebrand the studio as Zynga Boston, adding to its bases in San Francisco, Austin, Baltimore, Bangalore, Beijing and Los Angeles.
Big on Boston
"Boston is an epicenter for technology and has a strong talent market, making it an ideal location for us to expand operations," said senior VP of games at Zynga, Mike Verdu.
"As one of the most prominent social game companies in Boston, the Conduit team shares a similar culture and drive with Zynga, and together we anticipate great successes from our new studio."
Conduit Labs' CEO, Nabeel Hyatt, will become head of the new Boston studio as part of the deal, with the workforce immediately integrated into Zynga's own team.
It's the second acquisition Zynga has made in August, with the firm picking up Japanese social games specialist Unoh for a rumoured $12 million at the start of the month.
