The last couple of years has seen Google embark on the most expansive period in its decade plus history, with AdMob purchased back in 2009, and the likes of SocialDeck and Jambool acquired in last few months alone.
In total, 26 deals have been struck by the firm over the course of the last two years, many with a focus on giving the firm a hand in mobile social gaming.
Yet Google, apparently by its own admission, is nowhere near finished.
Merger mayhem
Speaking to Reuters, Google's VP of corporate development David Lawee confirmed that the giant is still looking to make acquisitions before the end of the year, with particular attention set to be paid to the mobile arena.
Recent purchases have roused speculation that Google is building a social gaming infrastructure to take on the likes of Facebook.
The acquisition of Jambool's Social Gold equips Google with an app monetisation tool, while SocialDeck has experience developing casual titles on iPhone.
Rallying its rivalsLawee himself, however, hinted that Google is motivated by the strategic advantage acquiring companies also sought by its competitors offers.
"In almost every deal that we look at, there's always someone or one of those companies interested," Lawee told Reuters.
AdMob was, according to many, a prime target of Apple's before its eventual purchase of Quattro Wireless at the start of the year.
