Every January, the Anaheim Convention Centre plays host to the biggest music product trade event, the NAMM Show.
Last year, over 87,500 attendees visited the 1,373 exhibition stalls, looking to unearth the next killer pro audio product for the music industry, which by the sounds of it - this year - is expected to come from one of the plethora of app stores.
New horizons
The organiser of the NAMM Show is introducing a new pavilion at the 2011 event (running from January 13 to 16) designed specifically for mobile game and app developers.
And to encourage participation among the development community, exhibition space at the event is being offered at a special introductory fee of $950.
Aside from creating a fresh buzz at the event, NAMM expects the mobile app exhibitors to benefit from reaching a potentially untapped audience within the music community, to increase download sales, and to develop new business relationships.
Korg leading the charge
Korgs iMS-20 synth studio software rocketed to the top-selling iPad app position this past weekend, demonstrating the obvious demand for this type of product among the music industry and consumers.
