Antix's mission to break down the barriers between smartphone platforms, TVs, tablets and set top boxes continues to expand, with the software firm set to showcase its Game Player technology at Mobile World Congress from February 14.
Game Player is designed to let consumers play the same games on phones, televisions and any other internet connected devices running the software.
As well as delivering identical experiences regardless of the hardware in question, Antix's platform also allows users to distribute the games to any other Game Player devices in the vicinity, promoting what the firm describes as a new form of viral distribution.
Power to the user
"Consumers are constrained to work in artificial ways defined by the portals," said Antix CEO Francis Charig, confirming that Game Player is designed to be distributed by carriers and manufacturers.
Antix is aiming for the file transition to be a sleek experience, only pausing to take payment details from the new customer when required.
It's this ability for consumers to distribute games they own to completely different handsets and devices that will be the focus on Antix's MWC 2011 demo.
"Today's 'social' gaming is largely antisocial with the relationship being between the consumer and the portal rather than consumer-to-consumer," Charig added.
"Antix turns this on its head to the benefit of consumers and the entire supply chain."
