Darmstadt based business process specialist Software AG has announced it has acquired Metismo, the British firm behind middleware tool Bedrock.
The deal, which Software AG claims will enable it to compete fully in 'digital enterprise', is being billed as an opportunity for Metismo to improve its standing.
Specifically, Metismo CEO John Chasey claims the firm will now be able to take advantage of the German firm's R&D and sales opportunities.
Industry bedrock
"The combination of Software AG and Metismo will provide enormous value to customers of both companies through a unique process driven approach to mobile application and a unique rapid development approach across multiple devices," he added.
Chasey founded Metismo in 2007, having also been behind sister studio Finblade and fellow developer IOMO.
The company is best known for Bedrock, which offers mobile developers support for multiple platforms, including iOS and Windows Phone 7.
Moving on Metismo
"The emergence of new mobile internet technologies and devices is rapidly transforming enterprise computing," added Software AG product management veep Matt Green.
"The Metismo technology solves the complex issue of cross-platform mobile access to the enterprise, providing our customers and partners with a state-of-the-art solution and launch-pad for unparalleled mobile productivity."
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
