Steve Jobs, look away now: the continued appetite for Flash games on iOS devices can be illustrated by iSwifter's lofty revenue target for 2011.
According to the company behind it YouWeb, the tool - which enables users to play web-based Flash games from the likes of Facebook on their iPads - is on track to race pass $10 million in revenue before the year is out.
Netting the market
But while iSwifter currently generates the majority of its cash from its one-off payment model (iSwifter 4.0 allows users to test out its browser for half an hour, before issuing them with a one-off charge), YouWeb has far loftier ambitions for its platform.
Games have just been the trigger, says iSwifter co-founder Rajat Gupta. The technology is also currently being licensed out to third-parties eager to get their software to work on iPad, generating a whole new revenue stream.
"We want to be the Netflix of applications," Gupta told VentureBeat, with executive chairman Peter Relan claiming that the current games focused model is "just a leading indicator of what we can stream".
Evidence of its growth can also be seen in Gupta's plans to hire up to 40 new employees in 2011 a significant jump from the company's current eight strong workforce.
