Adding to what it claims is now a 150 strong library of optimised titles, Sony Ericsson has announced it has secured Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light as an Xperia Play exclusive on Android.
The Square Enix title, which will launch this November, will be the first of many titles for the platform from the publisher, cementing what's billed as a close relationship between the two parties.
Do not underestimate the power of Xperia Play
"By bringing some of the world's most popular console games to the Xperia Play we're delivering an unrivalled smartphone gaming experience," said head of content and marketing strategy at Sony Ericsson, Tim Harrison.
"And this is still really only just the beginning - we will continue to push the boundaries of what is possible with new games and new experiences optimised for Xperia Play, ensuring that consumers have the best gaming possible experience on a smartphone, whatever games they are in to."
For Square Enix's part, the publisher claims Xperia Play's heightened specs made it the logical choice for the game's splash on Android.
"With a unique control pad and immersive graphics that enable an enriched gaming experience, Xperia Play is bringing a unique and exciting dimension to smartphone gaming," said head of mobile for Square Enix Europe, Ben Cusack.
"This is just the start of what we plan to do together, but right now, we are delighted to be able to show off the full potential of our games with this innovative smartphone, bringing them to life as our creators intended."
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light launched on iOS back in December.
