If that's one thing that's guaranteed from a Glu Mobile quarterly report, it's numbers and lots of them.
The freemium game publisher is by far the most open publicly owned company in the sector, providing plenty of opportunity for journalists and analysts to pick through its performance.
The formal part of its Q3 FY11 has already been detailed, revenue was up 9 percent to $16.9 million, while losses increased to $6.2 million due to the acquisition of Griptonite and Blammo Games.
What's my share?
Drilling further down, Glu now makes the majority of its revenue from smartphones; 57 percent of the Q3 total or $9.7 million.
Of this, the majority is from iOS - something that will continue into 2012 - but Android is growing fast; its proportion more than doubled to 34 percent.
However, on a per user basis, iOS remains ahead of Android by a factor to approximately two, something CEO Niccolo de Masi reckons will continue to narrow during 2012.
Big players
Glu's most popular games were Gun Bros., which generated $1.5 million of non-GAAP revenue in the quarter, while Contract Killer generated $1.8 million.
In terms of its reach, the company has now had 131.3 million lifetime installs on mobile and Facebook, of which 29.4 million came in Q3.
Activity continues to grow with DAUs up 28 percent quarter-on-quarter to 2.1 million. MAUs increased 34 percent to 22.1 million.
One interesting trend is that while the number of IAPs dropped in the quarter-on-quarter from 999,000 to 866,000, Glu generated more revenue as the average revenue per transaction grew from $4.07 to $6.40.
This occured as Glu got better at managing its games, particularly in terms of promotions and offering higher priced virtual items.
