Australian studio Halfbrick has announced the acquisition of Spanish outfit Onan Games - the company behind development tool Mandreel.
The firm's technology allows games from one C++ code base to be developed across iOS, Android, HTML5 and Flash, with the Australian developer claiming it "recognised the potential for Mandreel and the opportunities it would bring to his company's portfolio of games."
The Onan and only
"Onan has created something that is incredibly powerful in such a fast-paced industry," said Halfbrick CEO Shainiel Deo.
"It's our goal to maximise reach and bring our games to new fans, and we welcome Onan into the Halfbrick family know that they will help us achieve exactly that."
The studio has stated Onan's technology will now be used to distribute its popular mobile IP across web platforms and social networks such as Facebook, with Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride the likely beneficiaries.
It's an ideal Onan Games CEO Miguel Pastor said his company will be more than happy to help Halfbrick realise.
Backing the brick
"We want to see our technology used by the best and most creative developers, and Halfbrick is undoubtedly one of the top studios in the world," said Pastor, Onan Games CEO.
"We can't wait to see what awesome new ideas and projects will arise in the coming months."
As an aside, Halfbrick has confirmed it plans to license Mandreel out to its "extended client base" moving forward.
Halfbrick was already one of Mandreel's listed clients, with other mobile outfits such as Glu, Turborilla, Frima Studio, Digital Legends and Rubicon Development having also utilised the platform in the past.
