Having launched its first beta back in March, BlueStacks' App Player is bound for 30 million PCs around the globe following a partnership with manufacturer Asus.
The firm's platform allows apps written for Android to be run on PCs equipped with either Windows XP or Windows 7, all without the need for any additional modifications or porting.
Got that vibe
The deal will see Asus leverage App Player's emulator technology for its asus@vibe entertainment platform, set to be pre-installed on all of the manufacturer's new Windows hardware.
BlueStacks has signed a number of deals to ensure there will be a 'selection' of Android apps for users to tap into from day one Halfbrick's Fruit Ninja and Outfit7's Talking Tom Cat on board with apps likely to be offered via an all-you-can-play subscription model.
Users will be able to enjoy a selection of titles delivered App player for free for six months, with the option to upgrade to unlimited apps and sync apps from their Android phone to their PC also on offer.
Easy does it
"This is a winning proposition for the entire PC ecosystem," said BlueStacks president and CEO Rosen Sharma.
"App developers who have already built for Android can now just run their apps on Windows PCs through BlueStacks. We've done the heavy lifting for the benefit of all."
The Asus deal comes two months after BlueStacks secured investment from Qualcomm, adding to the $14 million in funds the firm had previously amassed.
