Microsoft has unveiled an overhauled Windows Phone Dev Center in response to "developer feedback", splitting the platform from its Xbox hub for the first time.
The relaunched Dev Center comes after "months of careful planning", with program manager Ash Wasi detailing Microsoft's decision to retire the original App Hub on the firm's developer blog.
Wave of changes
"What might not be immediately apparent is that the portal now sits atop a more robust and scalable backend," detailed Wasi.
"These infrastructure upgrades should translate into improved overall site performance and reliability. But today's launch is just the first step; we'll continue to fine tune and optimise the site and infrastructure in the weeks ahead."
Indeed, though Wasi has cited a new, streamlined look, the main changes aren't superficial.
Also incoming is the ability to launch apps in three times as many regions as previously available, plus the option for developers to get paid and pay for their account via PayPal.
Eye on analytics
Other notable changes include a new analytics tool one that breaks down app stats between 'without trial' and 'after trial' and a new money report detailing monthly payouts.
"Another key investment we made in this release was around content, and bringing together the most important educational resources in one place," added Wasi.
"You'll notice, for example, that the new portal is integrated more deeply with MSDN, so you no longer need to leave it to browse Windows Phone-related forums and SDK info.
"As before, you'll also find great programming tips, code samples, design guidance, advice for selling apps, and much more."
More details on the changes can be found on the Windows Phone Developers blog.
