Brands looking for 'mobile exposure'

Hyundai and Playmobil got game as firms partner with Gameloft
In one fell swoop, French publisher Gameloft has unveiled new partnerships that will see two major brands take centre stage in Gameloft games.

Both car giant Hyundai and toy range Playmobil have signed separate deals with the firm, with Gameloft titles seen by the companies as a key way of reaching new audiences.

Fast moving

In the case of Hyundai, the deal will see manufacturer's cars featuring in an update to Asphalt 7: Heat for iOS and Android.

The Veloster Turbo and Genesis Coupe will bolster the game's existing lineup of 60 cars from a variety of manufacturers.

Furthermore, Gameloft plans to launch an "exclusive and dedicated" version of GT Racing: Motor Academy for Android.

The game will include Hyundai's i-oniq concept car and the Genesis Coupe.

"We hope this project with Gameloft will give the young generation, as well as Hyundai's current customers, an opportunity to experience the Hyundai brand," explained Hyundai CMO Wonhong Cho.

App store piracy

As part of its partnership with Playmobil, meanwhile, Gameloft will develop Playmobil Pirates for iOS and Android.

Set for a late 2012 release, the game will feature the "most iconic toys" from the Playmobil Pirates range in a free-to-play package.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with a leader in digital games," enthused Christian Buchner, Playmobil's project manager new media.

"By featuring our world-famous pirates' toys in an innovative and user-friendly digital game, Gameloft supports us in bringing Playmobil fans a new, totally immersive gaming experience."
